Meet the Board
Board President – Chris Warkala was a construction manager for K. Hovnanian Homes for 23 years. He became a daily Habitat volunteer in 2009 after being laid off. He then joined and became the chair of the Construction Committee. In 2010 he began working for Princeton University as the Manager of Housing for Graduate Students and Faculty. He joined the Board of Trustees in 2010 and was recently elected Board President.
Vice President - Greg Brennan started Green Space Building & Design LLC in 2008 and has since been committed to providing quality construction services to the greater New Jersey area. He holds over twenty years of project management experience. His expertise in project and property management makes him a valuable member of the Habitat board.
President Emeritus - David McAlpin graduated from Princeton University in 1950 and Union Theological Seminary In New York in 1953. He served as Pastor of Presbyterian churches in New Jersey and Michigan and has been retired since 1993. After the death of his first wife, Rev. McAlpin married Sally Dallam McAlpin in 1995. They have a combined family of 7 children, 9 grandchildr and 1 great grandson. He was a founder of Habitat for Humanity of Trenton in 1986 and served as its President until 2012. Rev. McAlpin served as Trustee and President of The New Jersey Association on Correction, The Princeton Blairstown Center, The Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association, The Historical Society of Princeton, and Trustee Union Theological Seminary in New York.
Treasurer: John Womack has volunteered for several years in non-construction activities at Habitat in Trenton, and became a Board member in Fall 2013. He is a recently retired chemical engineer who spent his career building mathematical models of chemical and hydrocarbon plants in USA and overseas.
Paul Kiss is a licensed architect in New Jersey and ten other states, and a licensed Professional Planner in New Jersey. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Drexel University. Paul owns a mid-sized architectural and land planning firm based in Collingswood, NJ. and has over 30 years of experience designing residential and light commercial projects, specializing in beachfront homes. In other related professional experience, he is vice-chair of the Hopewell Township Planning Board, and serves on the Hopewell Valley Green Team and other local boards and task forces. He has been married for 26 years and has four sons. He believes strongly that hard working people should be given a hand up, not a hand out, and has supported Habitat’s mission for many years.
Cindy Robin Herrera is a VP, Branch Manager in Central New Jersey. Ms. Herrera is dedicated to understanding the customer’s needs, goals and financial outcomes. She is focused on cultivating and managing a portfolio of personal and small business customers. Ms. Herrera has more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry, servicing both personal and commercial clients. Ms. Herrera worked at PNC Bank for over 10 years in various capacities of AVP, Branch Management and AVP, Business Banking Relationship Manager. Ms. Herrera is a Certified Women’s Business Advocate. She currently services as Vice President of the Jamesburg Monroe Regional Chamber as well as Chairperson of the Membership committee. In addition she was Co-Chair for the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce 2016 Largest Networking Party and Serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat of Humanities of Trenton.
