Habitat Young Leaders and Professionals
Established in 2012, Habitat Young Leaders and Professionals (HYLP) is a networking and service based organization backed by Habitat for Humanity of Trenton.
The organization provides a forum for area leaders and professionals to connect with peers, businesses, and organizations in Mercer County, meet like minded individuals, and impact their community in lasting and valuable ways.
What our members say:
"Moving to NJ from MA for a new job, I was concerned about meeting new people. HYLP has been extremely welcoming and has given me the opportunity to not only make new friends, but also learn more about the Trenton area and get involved with the community. Most of all, being part of HYLP has helped to make NJ feel more like home."
- Katrina Roohr, Educational Testing Services
"This organization gave me the opportunity to be inspired by people like Pam, a foster parent and Big Sister. Hurricane Sandy may have destroyed her house, but it didn't crush her spirit - and I know it sounds corny to say that, but if you saw how resilient she was in the face of this major setback, you'd agree! I'm so grateful to HYLP for giving me the chance to work alongside her as we rebuilt her home."
- Divya Rachakovda, Novo Nordisk
"I became the treasurer of HYLP in May of 2013 because all the members were approachable and sincere about assisting the greater community beyond the organizations Trenton roots. Over the past year as treasurer, I have learned personally that I receive great enjoyment from building and restoring homes or common community property. Along the way, I've encountered other young professionals that share the same passion and are more than just fellow members; they are friends and respected peers."
- Kevin Culliton, John Pavlovsky CPA
"HYLP has connected me with my peers who are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in Mercer County. Working with HYLP members to raise funds for Habitat construction has been an instructive and fun way to serve our community. Chelsea has provided us with fulfilling opportunities to support Habitat, develop our skills (professional and construction!), and network with other young professionals in the area. I’ve learned a lot from them and have had a blast at our events. I’m so grateful she connected me to HYLP!"
- Maria Bohn, Princeton University Community Based Learning Initiative Program
Meetings are held once a month where we plan and render social, professional development, and fundraising events throughout the year.
